Full Uniform...HATS and deodorant(?)

Hey all,

up next is the Full-Dress Rehearsal for Founder's Day Parade. *cant wait*
PLEASE BE IN YOUR FULL UNIFORM!!! I repeat, FULL UNIFORM.

badges, scarf, Guides HAT!!! (please borrow hat from your friend(s) who aren't marching. EVERYONE needs a hat!! vvvv IMPT) .. not to mention that you must as usual tie up your hair appropriately when you are in Guides uniform. refer to handbook if you still don't know. and shame on you manz!!!

AND look up and smart always!!! We wont lose to the GB people one ok!!? Guides can march too! and if not, better! (if you want to that is) =D

Your Leaders

P.S I understand that those people who have to do duties at the National Track Championships will be using your uniforms the day before the full-dress rehearsal.. Regarding that, sorry, you'll still have to wear the entire uniform. If you can afford to wash, dry, and iron it in 1/2 a day (from experience it was possible to iron it dry), that would be good. BUT let's say you can't.. um, spray something like DEODORANT (not perfume) or something...you wont die one larh ok.. ..
then after the rehearsal, change out and make sure you go home and prepare your uniform to be used for the REAL FOUNDER'S DAY PARADE on FRIDAY. =D okie dokie?

New Semester, Fresh Start

Hi all,

It is the end of the holiday (??!!), and hopefully you've had some time to rest. (haha, most of you will protest at that but we'll leave the rest of the traditional sayings to our teachers and principal)
The first half of the year is over and here's the second half! What have you done in the first half?

Some of you have been very busy in the first half and we cannot guarantee that you'll be less busy this semester.
For the newer guides, have you all started working on your Bronze Award? Those who went for the camp, that would be a very good start for you, *BIG HINT*...
What about the sec2s and 3s? Silver, Gold Award? There are other proficiency badges that you can work for along the way but ultimately, you should be aiming for the Gold Award.. it's possible. By the way, the pacing is really very much up to you. No one's going to stop you from getting your Gold award even if you are still in sec2...and even if you are sec3, you can still get the Gold award...Proper time management and a lot of initiative will help you go a long way! Oh, yes, we can't forget-- ENTHUSIASM!

This new semester is when you all will be given increased workload from your teachers, school functions (fund-raising projects, FOUNDER'S DAY SERVICE--coming post) and the sec4s will be-- (sighs) moving on. There isn't a lot of time left so for those who have yet to finish up your modules, push a little harder!! ESPECIALLY those with a FEW modules left!! Finish what you have started!! =D

It's up to you to have the INITIATIVE to look for our Guiders when it comes to testwork...Fix appointments for testing, etcetc...

Never say die! Whatever you do, give it your best!

cheers,
your leaders

NOTICE: Outdoor Cooking Competition (OCC)

This is an appeal to all those going for Guides Camp to help chip in (excuse the pun), in the collection of twigs/punk.

As you may or may not already know, OUR school's Guides Units (1st COY and 2nd COY) is running an Outdoor Cooking Competition(OCC) for the West Zone Units this year. This will be held on the second day of our Guides Camp (8/6/04) concurrently with our camp, and also at Camp Christine. We've also got our own 2 teams of 4 who will be taking part in it! =D Exciting, yes??

Because the school is under renovation, our usual source of twigs and punk from the school grounds is gone. So we need everyone's help to collect as much twigs and especially punk for the smooth running of the OCC.

For the information of those who don't know what punk is, they can be very thin DRIED twigs, very DRY leaves, the fibre-like materials of palm/coconut trees or wood shavings.
They are especially important in firelighting because they are the ones that catch fire more easily compared to the thicker twigs and wood.
Oh yes, when we say "DRIED", we really mean DRIED. Not those twigs that are still greenish-brown or bendable.. dry meaning that when you try to break the twig in half, it will have a dry "CRACK!" sound. =) so try breaking the twigs while you are collecting to test for the dryness yes? =D

So yes,
How YOU (yes you!)can help:

Go out to a park/garden/anywhere that has trees and pick up as much twigs/punks you can find (dried ones from the ground please, DO NOT PLUCK/CUT/TWIST/BREAK off anything from the LIVE tree/plant!!)

We hope that each one of you can collect at least one bundle of twigs, and a good amount of punk!

Your help is greatly appreciated!

PLEASE TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY DURING THESE DRY DAYS TO COLLECT THEM!

THANKS!
